When the office of the state’s chief justice, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, collapsed on Wednesday night in Ekiti State, the tragedy was averted.

While Justice Adeyeye narrowly avoided death, he was immediately sent to a tertiary hospital in the state’s capital for treatment after suffering significant injuries.

The incident reportedly took place as the Chief Justice was prepared to complete the day’s work at the end of the working day.

The judge had to be pulled from the rubble after a lot of labor by office personnel.

In a 24-second video that our correspondent was able to capture, it could be seen that the office’s whole steel suspended ceiling system as well as a portion of the wall had entirely fallen.

Though the incident’s exact origin is still unknown, sources indicate that it may have been caused by structural issues with the building that is part of the State High Court grounds.

Journalists enquired about the incident but received no answers from the Chief Justice’s spokesperson or the Registrar of the Judiciary despite attempts to contact them.
