Governor Usman Udodo of Kogi State paid a visit to his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, at his residence in Abuja.
The visit came after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest Bello, prompting Governor Udodo to intervene.
The EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence as part of an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations. While Bello has been named in the case, he has not yet been formally charged.
The case involves Bello’s nephew, Ali Bello, and his associate, Dauda Suleiman, who are accused of diverting funds from Kogi State.

However, a new count has been introduced, alleging that the two defendants conspired with Bello to convert a significant sum of money belonging to the state government for personal use.
Bello argues that the EFCC’s actions are in violation of a court order issued by the Kogi State High Court of Justice, which prohibits the agency from harassing, arresting, detaining, or prosecuting him until the fundamental rights enforcement action is heard and determined.
