Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami has commended Victor Osimhen for matching the Super Eagles’ goalscoring record. Osimhen’s remarkable performance continues to solidify his status as one of Africa’s top football talents, inspiring younger players and bringing pride to Nigerian football fans.
According to OBASANJONEWS, Segun Odegbami, a legend of the Super Eagles, has commended Victor Osimhen for matching his goal record.
Osimhen reached this milestone on Thursday night during Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
The forward from Galatasaray equalized the score with a header just eight minutes before full time.
The 25-year-old and Odegbami now hold the record as Nigeria’s joint top scorers, both having scored 23 goals each.
“It’s great that he has matched my record,” Odegbami remarked on Eagle7fm. “This indicates that we now have players who can score goals for the national team.”
Osimhen will strive to break Odegbami’s record when the Super Eagles take on Rwanda in Uyo this Monday.
