Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, has decried the actions of thugs during the current gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly elections, particularly in Lagos State.
Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who was declared president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is in office, and the 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election was marred by high levels of violence and intimidation. The former minister is worried that this could become the new normal under his administration.

If Tinubu is elected president, Ezekwesili, who has served Nigeria in a variety of roles, fears that Nigerians may witness even more blatant and complete disrespect for the law.
