The former governor of Anambra State vowed to restore Kano, a bustling commercial city, to its former splendour.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has warned young people in Nigeria not to fall victim to the same political parties that have kept them in abject poverty.
On Sunday, he made this statement while speaking at the party’s presidential campaign rally at the Kano Pillars Stadium in Kano.
The former governor of Anambra State vowed to restore Kano, a bustling commercial city, to its former splendour.
“We want to restore Kano to its former glory.” We want to achieve that, and the only way we can is by helping you escape poverty. We don’t work in this industry to waste people’s time. You have been duped by them because they made empty promises.

We want you to take what we are saying and see it happen, because we are not like that. Let them not mislead you throughout this election. They will claim that we are from the North, but this election won’t be decided by our ancestry or tribe, Obi noted.
He claimed that Kano served as a point of reference for him when he was first starting out as a trader, but he bemoaned the change in the industries, garment factories, and trading centres like Sabon Gari.
Bola Tinubu, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will face off against Obi in the election.
However, several recent surveys have the Labour Party nominee ahead of his rivals.
