The party expressed faith in the British authorities’ capacity to bring the situation to a successful end.
The Labour Party (LP) claims that Peter Obi, the party’s nominee for president in the election of February 25th, is unaware of any supposed apology made by the British Government or any of its agencies regarding an incident involving the former governor of Anambra State at Heathrow Airport on April 7, 2023.
Diran Onifade, the head of the Obi-Datti Media, said, “We would like to clarify unequivocally that we are not aware of any such apology, and we have not released any statement whatsoever, in that regard.”
In his remarks, Onifade also expressed trust in the British authorities’ capacity to bring the situation to a successful conclusion.
Peter Obi and the LP/PCC, he continued, “have since moved on from the incident and continue to be totally focused, on the legal processes before the Election Petition Tribunal towards the recovery of our mandate, which we are firmly convinced was overwhelmingly expressed by voters, in the Presidential election of February 25th.”
It appears that someone has been impersonating Obi in London after Onifade revealed that Obi was “harassed” and “detained” by immigration agents at Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, for a duplicate infraction.
According to reports, the incident took place while Obi was in London for the Easter celebrations. Also, it was claimed that his supporters, known as Obidients, who were at the airport “rescued” the former governor.
There is no official declaration from the British government on this subject.
