Obi celebrates Christmas in internally displaced people in Nigeria
Sunday, Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, celebrated Christmas at an IDP camp in Abagana, Makurdi, and asked the federal government to move the IDPs.
The IDPs should have hope that their ordeal will end soon and that they will be able to return to their ancestral homes, as Obi promised.
Nigeria is not doing well as long as you are here in the camp. It is my hope that you will leave this camp and carry on farming, which is what you do best.
““Nigeria is an IDP as long as you are in the camp,” he declared.
Obi expressed his happiness at spending Christmas with them and gave them N3 million while bemoaning the fact that fellow Nigerians were camping in IDP camps against their will.
According to Dr. Emmanuel Shior, Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Obi was the first presidential candidate to visit and spend Christmas with IDPs.
Shior revealed that the state has seven unauthorized camps and 12 recognized government IDP camps housing thousands of displaced people.
