Shaibu calls on Obaseki to obey the Appeal Court’s reinstatement order. Learn about the legal implications and the political dynamics at play.

After his restoration by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, Philip Shaibu – Edo State’s Deputy Governor – has urged Governor Godwin Obaseki to honor the court’s verdict rather than pursuing additional legal avenues at the Supreme Court.

Shaibu’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebomhiana Musa, released a statement reiterating Shaibu’s stance on the significance of peace and collaboration towards Edo State’s advancement.

Musa declared that democracy and the rule of law have triumphed once again. He expressed his desire for Obaseki to comply with the newest ruling from the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

Musa also censured Obaseki, alleging that he does not value judicial decisions enough. According to Musa, “Obaseki disregards court verdicts and legal declarations; he acts independently as if above the law.”

Shaibu voiced optimism that Obaseki would put aside any personal resentments and engage in productive discourse for the betterment of Edo’s constituents.

The remark also highlighted how transient political authority is, as a new governor will assume office on November 12th, causing Obaseki to relinquish his position as leader of the state.

Despite the heightened tensions within the state’s leadership caused by a recent court ruling, Shaibu is advocating for peace and collaboration to promote progress in Edo State.
