Governor Obaseki has initiated a feeding program, highlighting the FG’s lack of support for Nigerians during difficult times.

The Christian Feeding Programme (CFP) second phase initiative has been launched by Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki and leaders from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, along with representatives from other Christian groups in the state. The program involves distributing 56,250 packs of rice weighing 10kg each across all three senatorial districts to alleviate people’s hardship.

The distribution in Edo South Senatorial District was initiated by the governor, who proceeded to examine the warehouse situated at Evbiemwen Street in Benin City under the Dioceses of Benin Anglican Communion. During this visitation, Apostle Irekpono Omoike – Chairman of CAN within the state – apprised the governor on how resources were being disseminated across different Senatorial Districts throughout Edo State.

In phase two, a total of 56,250 bags of rice will be distributed as follows: Edo South – 21,875 bags; Edo Central -15,625 bags; and Edo North-18,750bags.

About three months ago, Obaseki announced the commencement of the first phase of the programme aimed at alleviating suffering in the region.

He expressed gratitude to the Christian leaders for their dedication towards ensuring the prosperity of the program. He emphasized that politics has no involvement in this initiative since it is under Church management.

Obaseki implored the Federal Government to take a cue from Edo State’s feat, particularly in relation to its Christian Feeding Programme which has impacted over 50,000 households.

If the affairs of this country are handled suitably, the national resources will significantly benefit its citizens. Although there may exist difficulties, Nigerians are not being aided by their present leaders. Observe how transparent and effective our program has been in Edo State; it is an example from which the Federal Government should learn.

Approximately 50,000 families have received food from the well-organized and successful CFP. Its success can be attributed to its focus on transparency, integrity, and dedication to serving people rather than pursuing personal interests. However, this accomplishment pales in comparison to what is claimed by the Federal Government. In light of current global challenges, it is imperative for governments to earn trust and foster cooperation through honesty and transparency when addressing these issues together as a society.

Our sincere appeal to the public is to refrain from taking steps that could worsen our current situation. We will be holding discussions with our citizens in the upcoming days regarding ways of addressing this matter without causing any additional difficulties for themselves.

“We will execute this program in three phases. The first phase has been completed and now we are embarking on the second one, which aims to rectify errors from the initial stage after establishing trust. Additionally, it is intended to strengthen our achievements throughout Phase One.”

Enrollment in the conditional cash transfer, skilled programme, agricultural support, trade assistance, micro-financing and other initiatives will be made possible through the third phase of the governor’s programme.

The CAN chairman expressed gratitude towards the governor’s kind gesture and provision of palliative measures to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal on the populace.

He observed that the governor has initiated a vast palliative scheme to alleviate strife and suffering in the region, of which this CFP is an integral part.
