According to Oshiomhole, Obaseki shouldn’t be concerned about impeachment.

The Obaseki-led state government, according to the former governor of Edo, is also accused of preventing the parliament from operating as it would in other, more civilised environments.

Before the March 11 House of Assembly election, former governor of Edo State Adams Oshiomhole advises Godwin Obaseki not to be concerned about being impeached if he loses.

In a press conference with media in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, Oshiomhole, who won the February 25 general election and is now the senator-elect for the Edo North Senatorial District, made this claim.

He argued that if Obaseki had performed effectively as governor of Edo State, he would not be concerned about voters rejecting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Of the number of persons who are contesting, how many are new members who are seeking election for the first time and how many are old members who undoubtedly have been elected before?” he wondered.

Unless the governor believes he has perpetrated so many crimes that he is frightened he cannot withstand the demands of democratic administration, there is no reality to it.

The goal of the House of Assembly, according to Oshiomhole, is to expose the Executive to legislative oversight. You do not maintain a parliament by spending millions, if not billions, on nothing.

The Senator-Elect asserts that in an autocratic form of government, the parliamentary system does not exist.

He charged that the state government, which is run by Obaseki, does not permit the parliament to operate as it ought to in more civilised environments.

Particularly, Oshiomhole said that his successor had taken total control of Edo State, and he added that he might be being pursued by his “guilty conscience.”

The former governor continued by saying that the House of Assembly candidates running for seats in the Edo Parliament are “eager to guarantee that the governor spends resources in a manner that captures the desires of their various people. Their platform does not call for sacking the governor.
