APC claims victory in Governor Obaseki’s local government during the Edo election, dealing a significant blow to the governor’s campaign.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated Governor Godwin Obaseki in the Edo governorship election on Saturday in Oredo Local Government Area.
In the state capital of Benin City on Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the results.

With 30,780 votes, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC defeated PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo, who received 24,938 votes. With 5,389 votes, Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party was in the rear.
Of note is the fact that Obaseki, the governor of Oredo Local Government Area, sponsored PDP candidate Ighodalo.
