Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has announced a raise in the minimum wage for state civil service employees to N70,000, effective May 1, 2024, as reported by OBASANJONEWS24 during the inauguration of the Labour House dedicated to organized labor in the state.

The newly constructed building was named after former governor Adams Oshiomhole, with Obaseki emphasizing his commitment to improving the welfare of workers by increasing the minimum wage from N40,000 to N70,000.

Obaseki further pledged to raise the monthly salary above N70,000 if the Federal Government sanctioned a new minimum wage for its employees, with the specifics of the adjustment set to be revealed during the Workers Day celebration on May 1.
