He observed that, despite seasonal flooding being normal in various parts of Nigeria, every available report suggests that Borno State’s recent experience was among the most severe events.

The extent of the loss, which includes human lives, crops, farmland livestock and possessions, serves as evidence.

Although, Obasanjo emphasized that during crises such as this one is when the traits of competent leadership and bravery are exhibited. Thus, I would like to praise you and commend the Government of Borno State for how promptly and effectively you responded to the situation by providing all necessary assistance in your ongoing mission to provide aid for those who have been displaced.

The message conveyed sympathies to the State Government and mourners of the deceased, conveying a heartfelt wish for Almighty Allah to provide them with comfort and strength.
