Obasanjo Urges Nigeria’s Leaders to Embrace Selflessness
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo emphasized the importance of selflessness and viewing leadership as an opportunity to serve the people during his visit to Governor Godwin Obaseki in Benin City.
He highlighted that being in a position of authority requires making sacrifices and considering the welfare of the nation rather than personal interests. Obasanjo acknowledged the challenging economic situation in Nigeria but remained optimistic that with time, the circumstances would improve.
He urged current leaders to adopt a mindset of collective responsibility, focusing on the well-being of future generations and promoting sustainable development. Additionally, Obasanjo shared that his visit to Benin City was to attend a family wedding and to show courtesy by meeting with the governor and Chief Security Officer of Edo State.

He also mentioned that the key to his good health and vitality lies in maintaining a balanced lifestyle, which includes a proper diet, sufficient rest, regular exercise, medical care, social interaction, and contentment.
“No matter your age, exercise is vital, as is taking care of your health; you should socialize and not isolate yourself or wallow in sadness. If you are not happy with what God has done for you, you will keep going around in circles.
