Obasanjo Urges Nigerian Leaders to Prioritize and Focus on Food Security and Stomach Infrastructure

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stressed the need of emphasising food security, particularly the concept of “stomach infrastructure.”
He made the statement at the launching of 136 housing units acquired by the Sokoto state government for N1.820 billion.

The housing units are intended for low-income earners and those persons in need of shelter.

Obasanjo lauded Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his efforts in tackling different concerns including as food security, transportation, road development, agricultural, and housing projects.

He applauded the governor’s dedication, comparing it to the strength and resilience of a stallion horse.

“Your strong, energetic, and resilient qualities in leadership have made you get it all within the space of time of your one year.

“Putting all these in place will surely brighten your chances of seeking a second-term mandate without stress”, he expressed optimism.

The former president complimented Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar for their impassioned call contributions to the development of the state as a good political mentor and the Sultan as a role model in the caliphate.

He stated: “I will say Wamakko remains a good mentor who has gotten a good mentee in the person of the governor.”

Earlier, Governor Aliyu Sokoto said the notion of coming out with multiple housing projects was in keeping with his campaign promises to create human-oriented initiatives that would prove the welfare and standards of the people in the state.

He said that the state government has devoted significant resources to establishing and completing many other comparable projects around the state including road constructions, empowerment goods, water and agricultural supplies for farmers as well as equipping hospitals.

He stated: “We are determined to continue developing the state for proper repositioning and providing state-of-the-art adjourning facilities at all sites including Islamiyya schools, markets, and playgrounds among others.”
