Former President Olusegun Obasanjo fires back at those spreading death rumors about him, calling it malicious and warning against such actions.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has dismissed rumors circulating on social media about his death, affirming that he is alive.

The former president, puzzled as to why some individuals would wish him harm, immediately assured his family that he was in good health.

On Tuesday, Obasanjo made this statement during the inauguration of the Old Garage/Oke Fia-Lameco Dual carriageway in Osogbo, Osun State. This project is one of several being inaugurated to mark Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second anniversary.

I came across a rumor on social media claiming that I had passed away. To clear things up, I immediately informed my children and relatives that it wasn’t true—I am very much alive. While some people may wish otherwise, I’m grateful to God for sustaining me.

Why would anyone want me dead? Those who entertain such thoughts will inevitably face their own misfortunes.

“This type of rumor is not only troubling but also highlights the extent to which some individuals misuse technology. It is unacceptable,” Obasanjo expressed.

My beloved citizens of Osun State, our administration has successfully built over 120 kilometers of roads throughout the state. Additionally, we are nearing completion on two significant flyovers in Osogbo, and construction is advancing on both the Ile-Ife flyover and Ilesa dual carriageway projects.

I have shifted our focus and plan toward completing the Iwo-Osogbo Road. Additionally, we’ve incorporated the dualization of Odoori-Adeeke Road within Iwo into our project, which will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will extend to both the Post Office and Oluwo Palace, while the second phase will start from there and continue to Adeeke Junction.

I would like our team to officially note that for all of our projects and programs, we did not rely on any loans. Instead, we focused on eliminating financial leakages in the state’s finances and utilized local resources to manage project costs while ensuring high standards were enforced.

In the latter half of our administration, I want to assure all residents of Osun State that we will finish every ongoing project under my leadership. We remain committed to meeting both infrastructural and social needs within our community, aiming for a balance between hard infrastructure and softer programs.
