On Thursday, Richards Mills, the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, referred to former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo as a wealth of knowledge.
He mentioned that the Presidential Library of the former leader in Abeokuta, Ogun State, embodied the genuine hope all Nigerians aspire to witness in the near future.
Mills shared these revelations during his visit to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) and the penthouse residence of the former president.

Kehinde Akinyemi, the Special Assistant on Media to the former president, stated that the visiting ambassador mentioned having a candid discussion with Obasanjo during his visit.
After approximately an hour in a private session, Mills began a tour of the building before leaving the complex. He remarked, “It is fascinating. It captures a real moment in time when there was so much hope in Nigeria. I think we all wish to see that return. It’s also a glimpse into history for people to witness.”
Regarding his meeting with Obasanjo, Mills described it as highly productive. He stated, “I had an open and honest conversation with the former President. He is a great friend of the United States, and we always gain valuable insights from our visits to him.”
Obasanjo mentioned that ever since the ambassador arrived in the country in August, his schedule has been quite busy with hosting duties, making today’s opportunity to be his guest a delightful experience.
