Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, emphasised that the legislature is not “fighting” with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
About a week before to his remarks, the Lagos State House of Assembly had rejected 17 of the 39 commissioner nominees that Sanwo-Olu had for consideration.
No matter the threats made by some, according to Obasa, who presided over the plenary session on Monday, the Assembly will not divulge what it learned while screening the commissioner-nominees it rejected.
The Speaker stated that he is working to defend the All Progressives Congress (APC), his party.
“So, I’m attempting to defend my party, and I’ll keep doing that, but we won’t forgo serving our people in the name of technocrats, no.
“Anyone who is curious as to why we made such a choice should approach the House.
The House, as a body, chooses not to reveal what was found during the screening exercise, and we would not be required to divulge it, Obasa stated.
