Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are expected to hit the campaign trail alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, lending their support as election season heats up, according to media reports.

According to media reports, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are set to join US Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on the campaign trail in the swing states of Georgia and Michigan next week.

According to the Associated Press, Harris will join the former president in Georgia on October 24 and Michelle Obama in Michigan on October 26. This information was shared by a senior official from the Harris campaign who wished to remain anonymous.

According to the latest polls, Harris and her Republican opponent Donald Trump are in a tight race at the national level. In Georgia, Trump holds an advantage over Harris with 52% compared to her 45%. Meanwhile, in Michigan, Harris is leading Trump by a narrow margin of 47% to 45%.

According to Reuters, Barack Obama and his wife continue to be “immensely popular” among Democratic Party supporters. The agency suggested that their involvement could enhance Harris’s prospects in closely contested states.

The former president recently campaigned for Harris in Pittsburgh and is slated to appear soon in the key states of Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Additionally, Michelle Obama will be campaigning for the first time this election cycle.

While serving as the district attorney of San Francisco, Harris supported Barack Obama’s successful 2008 presidential campaign. The former president reportedly played a role in encouraging President Joe Biden to withdraw from the race following his poor debate performance against Trump this past June. During Obama’s two terms from 2009 to 2017, Joe Biden held office as vice-president.

Earlier this week, The New York Post reported that Biden and Obama had a private conversation during a memorial service in Washington. According to the report, they allegedly concurred that Harris was not as strong as the outgoing president.

Donald Trump has received endorsements from Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX; rapper 50 Cent; politician and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; commentator Tucker Carlson; retired professional wrestler Hulk Hogan; and actor Jon Voight.
