NYSC Stops Biometric Clearance, CDS Activities Due to Protests
Nationwide protests lead NYSC to stop biometric clearance and CDS activities. Find out what this means for corps members.
Due to the scheduled protests between August 1-10, 2024, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deemed it necessary to suspend both biometric clearance and weekly Community Development Services (CDS) for Corps members across Nigeria.
A memo was issued to State Coordinators, Local Government Inspectors and Zonal Inspectors across the nation informing them of the decision.
The memo emphasized that it is critical for Corps members not to engage in any sort of protest as per policy.

The new memorandum conveyed that the biometric clearance and CDS undertakings are suspended immediately.
It also reminded corps members of the policy against engaging in any sort of protest, as previously stated. The precise date for reinstating these events will be relayed at a later time.
Furthermore, it stated that “As a result of the deferment of all NYSC operations, corps members are instructed not to don their uniforms for any reason throughout this week.”
The objective of this safety measure is to secure the well-being and adherence of Corps members amidst an expected time of turmoil.
