The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra Command has apprehended eight individuals suspected of working as unlicensed private security guards.
The State NSCDC Commandant, Olatunde Maku, made this announcement during a press conference on Friday, revealing that the arrests were made during a raid in Awka on Thursday.
The operation was conducted based on intelligence reports received by the NSCDC.
The suspects, identified as Eze Emmanuel, Patrick Nwoye, Okafor Chibuike, Tochukwu Chukwuemeka, Kingsley Asuauo, Blessed Mfonu, Ikechukwu Emeka, and Amu Emmanuel, were taken into custody.

Preliminary investigations uncovered that some of the suspects were impersonating the Anambra Vigilance Group, while others were hired by hotels to provide security services, despite being aware that they were not licensed or registered.
Additionally, four pump action guns and 16 live cartridges were seized from the suspects. Currently, all the individuals are undergoing further investigation, and once completed, they will be charged and prosecuted in court.
The NSCDC remains committed to fulfilling its mandate and will continue to carry out its responsibilities diligently.
