NSCDC arrests 3 minors in Ebonyi for attempted rape

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ebonyi State has apprehended three minors for their alleged involvement in an attempted rape of another minor.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Elijah Willie, disclosed this information to the press in Abakaliki on Saturday.

Among the suspects, two are aged 15 and 13, while the third suspect is currently evading arrest.

The incident took place in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state. Willie emphasized the need for the minors to be transferred to appropriate juvenile authorities for rehabilitation, as there has been a disturbing increase in such cases involving minors.

He called on relevant stakeholders to take decisive actions to address this trend and protect the well-being of the youth in society.

In a separate incident, the NSCDC commandant also announced the arrest of two individuals for allegedly vandalizing electricity cables at the Ebonyi International Shopping Mall.

The suspects, aged 21 and 22, are from Amasiri in Afikpo North Local Government Area.

The commandant expressed concern over the prevalence of vandalism in Ebonyi and urged stakeholders to educate the public, particularly the youth, about the consequences of engaging in such criminal activities.

He issued a stern warning to vandals, urging them to repent or face the full force of the law.

The commandant assured that the suspects would be prosecuted once the investigation is completed, emphasizing the seriousness with which the NSCDC regards cases of vandalism.
