Despite the ongoing unrest in the United Kingdom, which has only 16 days left until its annual Notting Hill Carnival, the CEO remains confident that no threat will be posed to this popular event.

On Thursday, police continued their state of high alert throughout the country following several days of riots that involved racially motivated assaults aimed towards Muslims and migrants.

According to Matthew Phillip, although the situation is worrisome, the carnival presents a chance to emphasize that we all belong to one human race and share similarities rather than differences.

The event, which began in the 1960s, originated from a longing for harmony among varied societies.

According to him, the Notting Hill Carnival and its neighboring area have been home to a variety of communities who didn’t always enjoy harmonious relationships like they do in present times.

“At present, it is regrettable that certain individuals are attempting to emphasize our dissimilarities.”

Over time, the carnival in London has become one of Europe’s most extensive street festivals and therefore draws hundreds of thousands.

Security remains a constant concern.

He states that they have close collaboration with the Metropolitan Police regarding security concerns, and anticipates further discussions in the coming weeks.

As per Phillip’s statement, while the Carnival depends on the police for their intelligence and abilities to assist them; it is also important that they take responsibility as a community.

The safety of everyone requires a collaborative approach, and it is crucial to have the support of our communities and locals who can be vigilant and assist whenever necessary.

As they observe the vibrant floats and exquisitely dressed performers march in sync with steel bands and calypso music, onlookers of Carnival can indulge themselves with a delectable spread of Caribbean cuisine.

The streets of Notting Hill, Westbourne Green, North Kensington, and Ladbroke Grove will be alive with the festivities of the 2024 Notting Hill Carnival from August 24th to 26th.
