Infamous bandit leader Kachallah Bugaje claims to have abandoned his criminal activities, attributing his decision to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

Kachallah Bugaje, a notorious bandit leader, has declared that he is giving up his life of crime, citing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) as the reason for his change.

In a video posted on social media by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on Friday, Kachallah announced in Hausa his decision to leave banditry. He was surrounded by his armed fighters, some of whom were holding weapons and a rosary as they prayed for blessings upon the Prophet.

He conveyed his fear of divine judgment and emphasized that his repentance was motivated by a desire to be accountable before God.

In the video, he also stated that he voluntarily released 50 kidnapped victims who were under his control and emphasized that this decision was made without any external pressure.

“I have reverence for my Creator, Allah, who gave me life, and I am mindful of the day I will stand before Him. My fear is reserved only for Allah,” he stated.

He elaborated that as admirers of Prophet Muhammad, he and his followers could no longer partake in activities the Prophet did not approve of, such as theft and kidnapping.

Kachallah disclosed that his group initially requested ransoms of N15 million, N10 million, and N25 million from the families of those abducted. However, they eventually released all 50 captives without receiving any payment, citing it as an act of faith and love for the Prophet.

“In relation to the 50 individuals we had taken, our initial demands were ransoms of either N15 million, N10 million, or N25 million. However, due to our reverence for Allah and love for Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), we released them without accepting any ransom,” he explained.

He reaffirmed his dedication to a new direction, stating, “As you can observe, my group members are in excellent condition and have agreed to embrace positive change by adhering to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).”

Kachallah concluded his message with prayers for the Prophet, stating, “May Allah persist in blessing our beloved Prophet, Anabi Muhammad (S.A.W).”
