Despite taking the lead in the final against Cote d’Ivoire, the Super Eagles lost 2-1. Troost-Ekong, who scored three goals in the tournament, was awarded the Player of the Tournament prize.
Reflecting on their performance, he acknowledged the bitter-sweet feeling of coming so close to victory but ultimately falling short.
He admitted that Ivory Coast was the better team on the day, but still cherished the individual accolade, although he would have gladly traded it for a winner’s medal.
