The Arewa Consensus for Jonathan group has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to consider running for president again in 2027.

The group’s National Coordinator, Manniru Yisin, issued the call during a press briefing at the NUJ Secretariat in Bauchi on Sunday.

The group officially launched Operation Save Nigeria, known as the AC-Jonathan2027 Project, to rally support among Nigerians for Jonathan’s presidency.

Yasin claimed that the situation for most Nigerians has deteriorated under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He stated, “We are a coalition of patriotic groups and individuals from all over northern Nigeria, united to rescue the country from its current socioeconomic challenges.”

Aligned with this goal, we gather here today to urge the former president to announce his interest in running for presidency again.

Similarly, we urge all well-intentioned Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to support our initiative in bringing the proven and reliable gentleman back into the political arena. We also ask everyone to rally around him as he aims for a successful return to the State House in the upcoming presidential election.

In line with this goal, we are excited to announce that AC-Jonathan is launching a Rescue Nigeria initiative called AC-Jonathan2027.

This project’s goal is to secure the re-election of the former president as Nigeria’s next president in 2027.

Yasin stated that the group had unanimously decided to encourage Jonathan to run due to his exceptional leadership qualities demonstrated during his presidency.

He contended that Jonathan’s reign was marked by policies focused on the people and significant accomplishments.

The national coordinator of AC-Jonathan2027 praised Jonathan for rebasing the Nigerian economy, stabilizing the naira, and strengthening the country’s unity.

He expressed the opinion that Jonathan’s administration had enhanced the standard of living for citizens.

The former president departed the State House with an unforgettable display of patriotism and sportsmanship.

Yasin stated that Jonathan’s policies significantly benefited the northern region, particularly as they were designed to address the challenges of human capital shortages there.

He expressed gratitude to the former President for understanding the critical role of education in personal, community, and national development. He noted that they feel a deep sense of obligation due to his efforts in launching numerous educational programs such as the Almajiri Education Initiative, which aimed at providing disadvantaged northern Muslim children with opportunities for a better life.

Regrettably, that initiative was immediately halted following the 2015 elections.

In a region burdened by significant unemployment and escalating insecurity, agriculture continues to be the sole lifeline for the northern economy.

This is why we are immensely grateful to former President Jonathan for providing farmers across the nation with access to at least two bags of fertilizer at the affordable price of N5,000 without any need for personal connections.

We owe our gratitude to the outstanding e-wallet fertilizer distribution initiative.

That innovative welfare initiative has successfully ensured that Nigerians have food on their tables while also providing rural farmers the opportunity to save money for education, healthcare, and other essential family needs.

Moreover, we consider it both intriguing and significant that Mr. Jonathan not only possesses unparalleled leadership qualities but also comes from southern Nigeria—the region anticipated to hold the nation’s presidency for eight consecutive years starting in 2023.

We firmly believe that preserving the informal agreement on power rotation between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions is crucial for maintaining unity and harmonious coexistence in our multicultural nation.
