The North Central APC Forum has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene promptly in the rehabilitation of federal roads within their region.
During a media interview in Jos, the capital of Plateau State on Tuesday, Saleh Zazzaga – Chairman of the Forum – announced that he is calling for the last quarter meeting to take place in October.
He stated that one of the foremost priorities on their agenda is addressing the development deficit in the North-Central region. He emphasized that a critical aspect of this issue, which has resulted in infrastructural decay, is attributed to the deplorable state of federal roads within this area.
Zazzaga implored the President to assist in reconstructing the roads within the region.

It is crucial for the citizens to reap the benefits of democracy, considering the North-Central region’s significant role in establishing this form of governance and securing wins for APC and President Tinubu.
According to Zazzaga, of the three zones in the North, “the most dismal roads and highways” can be found in the North-Central region.
According to him, the abysmal condition of the roads has resulted in significant difficulties for individuals and avoidable mishaps that have claimed numerous lives throughout time.
Zazzaga stated that several roads fall under this category, such as the Jos-Akwanga road, Makurdi-Oturkpo-Otukpa road, and Makurdi-Ankpa road. Other examples include the Ganawuri-Manchok road, Lokoja-Abuja road and Lapai-Agaie-Bida Road among others; Birnin-Gwari-Bokani-Mokwa route is also part of it through Minna-Zungeru-Tegina-Kontagora axis.
He urged the North-Central governors to step in and renovate any necessary roads, then follow precedent set by other states/regions where state governments reconstruct federal roads and seek reimbursement from the Federal Government.
He further clarified that although these roads may be classified as federal, they fall within state jurisdiction and consequently benefit the states primarily.
Furthermore, Zazzaga implored the President to promptly contemplate on appointing a minister from Plateau State since it currently has no representation in the cabinet. This is due to Simon Lalong’s resignation as the Minister of Labour and Employment.
Lalong had resigned from his previous position and accepted the role of Senator representing Plateau South.
