Nollywood Star Kunle Afolayan Mourns the Loss of His Mother

Acclaimed actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has announced the passing of his mother, leaving fans and colleagues offering condolences in this difficult time.

Kunle Afolayan, a renowned Nollywood actor and filmmaker, has announced the death of his mother, Omoladun Afolayan. She passed away at the age of 81.

On Saturday, Afolayan shared the news on Instagram by posting heartfelt moments with his late mother, including photographs that show her alongside her grandchildren.

“It is difficult to accept, but she truly led a fulfilling life. Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has passed away peacefully (1943-2024),” he wrote.

“She leaves behind her children and grandchildren. We kindly ask for your prayers during this time. ‘Omo re a gbeyin gbogbo wa,’ he added.”

Kunle’s brother, the actor Gabriel Afolayan, shared his grief by paying tribute: “It’s hard to feel at home right now. We lost someone very special. You will be deeply missed, big mummy (Iya Oyo). Our love for you is immense. I’ll miss having my chats and dance sessions with you. Rest in peace #maami. Sending much love to my siblings #kunleafo #aremumimostwantedlikecrudeoil.”
