No Rally Against Buhari Despite Hunger, Says Fayose

The President Bola Tinubu administration’s planned #EndBadGovernance protest has been criticized by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, who claims that the rally’s organizers have ulterior motives.

During his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today show on Monday, Fayose alleged that the upcoming protest set for August is politically motivated.

He stated that during Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year tenure as Tinubu’s predecessor, despite the country facing hardships, there were no hunger protests.

Buhari, originally from Katsina State in the North-West region of Nigeria, served as a military head of state before being elected President through democratic means. He held this position from May 2015 until May 2023 when he transferred power to Tinubu – a former governor of Lagos and representative of the South-West geopolitical zone.

According to Fayose, the issue of hunger is not a sudden one; it began long ago. This was evident when people called for Jonathan’s removal during a rally. However, even after he left office and Buhari took over, hunger still persisted despite no public outcry or demonstrations against him during his eight years in power. Furthermore, Fayose did not recall any protests regarding this matter at that time.
