Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a directive stating that civil servants and pensioners in Abia State should receive their salaries before political office holders are paid. Governor Otti expressed his concern over the long-standing issue of unpaid pensions by previous administrations in the state.
He emphasized that the payment of pensions should not be a cause for celebration, but rather a basic entitlement that retirees deserve. Governor Otti assured the citizens of Abia that his administration is committed to ensuring that senior citizens are not subjected to the agony of unpaid entitlements.
He has instructed that full pensions be paid on or before the 28th of every month, aligning with the payment schedule of civil servants. Furthermore, he emphasized that political office holders will only receive their payment after the obligations to senior citizens and civil servants have been fulfilled.
Governor Otti expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian Union of Pensioners for their support and emphasized that the welfare of the people of Abia is a top priority for his administration. He also highlighted the safety of the state and encouraged both residents and visitors to explore investment opportunities without fear.
Finally, he extended his Easter greetings to the people of Abia and assured them that every part of the state will experience development under his leadership.
