Burhan declares no negotiations with the RSF in Sudan, highlighting his firm position in the conflict.

Abdel Fattah al Burhan, the leader of Sudan’s military forces, stated that he would not enter into negotiations with the Rapid Support Forces. This statement was made after accusing them of launching a drone strike against him in eastern Sudan on Wednesday.

Both sides have been invited by the US to participate in peace talks held in Geneva.

The Transitional Sovereign Council, also referred to as Burhan’s government in Sudan must be acknowledged by any peace proposal according to his statement. Although he declined discussion with RSF, Burhan conveyed a readiness for dialogue with political factions and other groups wielding weapons.

While attending a military graduation ceremony, Burhan was fortunate to escape unharmed after a kamikaze drone caused the death of five individuals. Despite initial speculation implicating them in the bombing, RSF denied any responsibility for the tragic event.

Despite multiple attempts at mediation, a sustainable ceasefire has yet to be achieved. Over the course of two years, Sudan’s conflict has resulted in tens of thousands dead and over 10 million displaced individuals.

War crimes have been leveled against both parties, such as intentionally harming civilians and preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid.
