After meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Friday, the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, denied he planned to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike met with Tinubu alongside his counterpart from Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and a former Delta State governor, James Ibori.
However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader insisted he only visited Tinubu four days after he became president of Nigeria to offer his support.
When queried by State House correspondents whether transferring to the APC was on the agenda for his meeting, Wike responded, “No.” No intentions. Nothing of the sort is planned.
“We are Nigerians, and we have come to lend our support to the president.
“This is what is necessary. That is of little importance.”
