No firm resume date has been set for the Abuja-Kaduna train, according to NRC
The Abuja-Kaduna train traffic will not resume on a certain date, according to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
In March 2022, bandits ambushed the Kaduna-Abuja train, killing several passengers, injuring others, and kidnapping more than 60 more.
As a result, the train service between Abuja and Kaduna was temporarily suspended.
However, a few days ago, there were speculations on social media that the train service will resume on November 24, 2022.
The Managing Director of Nigeria Railway Service (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, clarified the company’s position in a statement released on Monday. He called the story incorrect and urged the public to ignore such untrue news.
He said that although the federal government is working tirelessly to reinstate rail service, no firm timetable has been set.
Because a firm date has not yet been set, he stated, “I desire to tell the wider public that the story is untrue.”
It’s true, he said, “that the Minister indicated we would restart services on that route this November, and efforts are being taken by all appropriate quarters to guarantee we begin by the end of November.”
While underlining the government’s efforts and dedication to protecting the lives and property of the respected passengers, the NRC Managing Director further pledged that the appropriate measures will be taken before operations resumed.
