The NNPP speaks out over rumors that Kwankwaso may leave his position to support Atiku.
Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party, has said that he would not retire in favour of Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party.
Major Agbo, the NNPP’s spokesperson, revealed this in a conversation with a reporter for The Punch, and he criticized a claim that northern leaders were pressuring Kwankwaso to resign for Atiku.
Agbo questioned, “How can somebody come out and suggest Kwankwaso should stand down for Atiku? ” in response to the news.
No, Atiku should resign instead.
He asserts that Kwankwaso is in the running to win and that he will become the nation’s next president.
However, the NNPP spokesman did not completely rule out the prospect of alliance negotiations, which he stated would take place on its conditions.
When questioned about the status of the reported discussions between his party and the Labour Party’s presidential campaign staff, Agbo denied the information.
“Go ask Okupe” (Dr Doyin Okupe).
Because he entered the meeting with his “unique” agenda—that Obi should be named president—he was the one who ended the first alliance talks.
Why is Obi elected president instead of Kwankwaso?
Additionally, Agbo and Rufai Alkali, the National Chairman of the NNPP, both agreed that the claim was inaccurate.
Professor of Political Science Alkali claimed that the study was the product of those determined to mislead Nigerians in order to gain cheap political points.
He declared, “It is entirely untrue.
We are not at all shocked that this narrative is now being revealed in this manner.
Every intelligent Nigerian has been adhering to the pattern.
“They first said that our candidate would leave to make room for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
When we refuted it, they claimed that Peter Obi and the Labour Party had won the NNPP over.
They remained silent when we gave them the details.
