The New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) National Working Committee (NWC) has expressed concern over attempts by certain favoured persons to undermine Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf.

This statement was released by the party on Monday and was provided to Obasanjo News24.

The party released a statement alerting the public to the malicious actions and statements of some expelled members of the party. The statement said that certain people had been hired to malign party leaders, such as Governor Yusuf and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, the party’s nominee for president in the most recent election.

“Certain expelled members of the party, which include Tope Aluko and some ex-state chairmen, who are sponsored elements, are conducting a press conference in Jabi, Abuja, to falsely state, as a form of propaganda, that H.E. Abba Kabir Yusuf was not a member of the NNPP at the time of the election and that His Excellency, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, is dismissed from the party,” the NNPP statement reads. It was signed by Ladipo Johnson on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee, which is led by acting national chairman Abba Kawu.

“We declare that the governor of Kano State was a legitimate member of the NNPP at all relevant times and that we trust the Nigerian Supreme Court to administer justice.”

“We remind the general populace that Chief Boniface Aniebonam, one of the NNPP’s founders, recently spoke out in favour of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and asked that his election be upheld,” the statement further stated.
