On Friday, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) denied claims that the price of petrol, also known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), will be going up at the pump.

According to PlatinumPost, some petroleum product merchants expressed alarm on Thursday about the increase in the landing cost of fuel to N720 per litre, saying it would have an impact on the cost of the product in the Nigerian market.

However, a note released by NNPCL management on Friday stated that there are no plans to raise petrol pump prices in the company’s retail locations nationwide.

“Dear esteemed customers, we at NNPC Retail value your patronage and we do not have the intention to increase our PMS pump prices as widely speculated,” the notice seen by PlatinumPost reporter reads. At our NNPC Retail Stations across the country, kindly purchase the highest calibre goods at the most reasonable pricing.

Management of NNPC Ltd. has signed.
