Speculations that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC Limited, is hatching a scheme to raise its pump prices have prompted a response.
According to prior reports, the landing price of Premium Motor Spirit, or fuel, increased from N651/litre to N720/litre.
This prompted rumours that the price of petrol at the pump would spike in the coming days.
However, in response to the story, the company’s management rejected the report in a statement posted on Friday on X, claiming that there was no intention for any rise.
“Dear esteemed customers, we at NNPC Retail value your business, and we do not intend to increase our PMS pump prices as widely rumoured,” the statement begins.
“Please visit our NNPC Retail Stations nationwide for the highest-quality goods at the lowest prices.”
