Justice Binta Nyako from the Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected Nnamdi Kanu’s plea for the reinstatement of his bail and to be moved from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) to either house arrest or prison.

The Judge mentioned that a similar request had been presented by Kanu before, but it was dismissed due to lack of merit.

In her ruling on Kanu’s request, Justice Nyako stated that she had confirmed that Kanu had violated the bail conditions previously granted to him and had fled the country.

Furthermore, the Judge noted that the sureties who had vouched for Kanu during his initial bail had requested to be relieved of their responsibilities as they were unable to locate Kanu or know his whereabouts.

Justice Nyako emphasized that Kanu’s only recourse now was to take his case to the Court of Appeal and exercise his right to appeal.

Disagreeing with Kanu’s main lawyer, the Judge pointed out that the Supreme Court did not support the claim that Kanu’s bail should not have been revoked, as she had reviewed the Supreme Court’s judgment and found no such assertion.

According to reports from Obasanjonews.com, Kanu is currently vehemently protesting against standing trial in any Nigerian court, arguing that it would violate the country’s Constitution and international laws.

More details on this matter are expected to be released later.
