Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB accuses army of blackmail and denies Simon Ekpa as their leader

The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, asked the Supreme Court on Friday to reject assertions that Simon Ekpa, a Biafra agitator stationed in Finland, is the group’s leader or member.

IPOB declared that Ekpa was its leader prior to the December 15 ruling in the Nnamdi Kanu case, and that the Supreme Court should not give in to blackmail.

IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful was responding to remarks made by Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa alleging that Ekpa was undermining security operations in the Southeast.

The Global Family and Movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by the Supreme Leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, desires to refute the false assertion attributed to the Army Chief of Staff that Simon Ekpa is the leader of IPOB, according to a statement partially translated by Powerful. The head of the Nigerian Army is well aware that IPOB has distanced itself from Simon Ekpa’s auto bandit groups and their illegal operations. The DSS, the Police, Simon Ekpa, and the Nigerian Army are all working together to blackmail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The only leader of IPOB and ESN is Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, our supreme leader.

The recent media outburst by the Nigerian Army claiming that Simon Ekpa is an IPOB leader is nothing more than a ruse to influence the outcome of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s impending Supreme Court hearing. Furthermore, as part of their larger plot to resurrect violence in the Southeast, Simon Ekpa has been linked to the leadership of IPOB, and in a recent tweet, he threatened to initiate a violent evacuation of the Nigerian military from the southeast. Simon Ekpa and the Nigeria Security Forces have the same goals.

“The first is a resurgence of violence, deaths, and property destruction in the Southeast, which has been calm for a while.

“The second is to persuade the Supreme Court Justices to disregard national security concerns and refuse to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on December 15th by using their resumed violent actions as evidence. We were aware that the federal government was exerting pressure on the justices of the Supreme Court to refrain from releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. As a result, they are looking for proof to convince the judges.

“The Nigerian government, the DSS, the Army, and Simon Ekpa’s attempt to work as a double agent are all related to the upcoming trial of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on December 15, 2023. They’re trying to figure out how to use the Supreme Court judges as leverage on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB. The world was aware that Simon Ekpa was neither affiliated with IPOB or ESN, nor was he acting in any capacity as an IPOB or Mazi Nnamdi KANU representative.

“The public should keep an eye on how Finland’s criminals and double agents incite violence shortly after Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Supreme Court ruling. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is being blackmailed by this criminal and his backers in an attempt to prevent his release. Recall that he was recently referred to be an IPOB leader by the Nigerian Army. Together, they are attempting to demonise and use blackmail against IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It is clear now that the Nigerian Army was one of the organisations that recruited the criminals who were destroying Southeast Asia, and specifically Igbo territory.

It is absurd and demeaning to the Nigerian government and the Nigerian Army for the Chief of Army to go to such lengths as to call Simon Ekpa the head of IPOB in front of the National Assembly. Do they really believe that people in Nigeria and the rest of the world are so illiterate that they cannot tell who is an IPOB member and who is simply acting out scripts?
