Nnamdi Kanu faces uncertainty as court considers starting trial or delaying indefinitely

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), found himself in a difficult situation at the Federal High Court in Abuja when Justice Binta Nyako informed him that he had to decide whether to allow the trial to commence or have it adjourned indefinitely.

This decision came after Kanu’s lead lawyer persistently claimed that his client was not adequately prepared for the trial.

Kanu had set forth several conditions that needed to be met by the Federal Government before he would agree to be prosecuted for treasonable felony.

These conditions included being moved out of DSS custody and placed under house arrest, the restoration of his revoked bail, and unrestricted access to his legal team, family members, and medical personnel.

In response, Justice Nyako ordered that progress be made by starting the trial on Wednesday, April 17.

However, Kanu adamantly refused, asserting that the trial could not proceed.

At present, Kanu is in a conference meeting with his lawyers and well-wishers in the court, while Justice Nyako has retired to the court chamber to allow Kanu time to make his decision.
