NLC strike: Bauchi banks and secretariats closed
Employees in Bauchi State abandoned several government institutions in accordance with the direction of the national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over the two-day warning strike.
The Abubakar Umar State Secretariat, Federal Secretariat, Ministry of Education, Bauchi State Water Board, Federal Inland Revenue, and special schools are among the institutions that are impacted.
The State Secretariat’s entrance is still shut, and only NLC members can be seen on the grounds.
When OBASANJO NEWS24 visited Bank Road, the street where all commercial banks are located in the city, it discovered that the banks’ offices were shuttered and deserted. Only security professionals working for the banks were present.
When speaking to reporters at the state secretariat, Ibrahim Maikudi, the chairman of the Bauchi State Council of the NLC, expressed satisfaction with the degree of compliance in the state.
According to him, NLC representatives have visited a number of institutions, including government offices, ministries, departments, and agencies, to ensure that the warning strike is being followed to the letter.
He said, “For the time being, I believe practically everyone has complied, and therefore the level is quite satisfactory.
