The Federal Government has been given a seven-day deadline to resolve the nation’s cash shortage by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC.

The ultimatum was given on Monday in Abuja during the opening session of the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the labour union by Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Ajaero, who expressed displeasure at the challenging condition that the Federal Government’s cash exchange policy has put Nigerians in, forewarned that if nothing is done to improve the situation, employees will be told to stay off the job after the seven-day period has passed.

The NLC president also bemoaned the nation’s present gasoline shortage, saying that workers and Nigerians are being forced to the breaking point.

“Congress wants to let the Federal Government know that we won’t be silent any longer on this matter of gasoline shortage and financial constraint.

Ajaero said, “NLC is giving the CBN and the FG seven working days, if they fail to do the necessary at the expiration of the seven days, all employees in Nigeria should stay at home,” before the meeting entered a closed-door session.
