NLC closes Jos DisCo due to increase in electricity tariff

The headquarters of Jos Electricity Distribution Company, JEDC, in Plateau State was closed down by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, due to the increase in electricity tariffs.

Reports indicated that the labor union obstructed the main entrance of the company, resulting in DisCo employees being unable to access the main premises.

NLC, along with the Trade Union Congress, TUC, had previously declared their intention to close down Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Distribution Companies (DisCos) offices nationwide, citing non-compliance with their request for a complete reversal of the electricity tariff hike.
