NLC and TUC respond to the supposedly agreed-upon N155,000 new minimum wage with FG
The reports circulating on social media claiming that the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union of Nigeria have agreed with the Federal Government to set the minimum wage at N155,000 have been dismissed by both organizations.
A post on a social media platform by a user on March 26 alleged that the government had reached an agreement with the NLC and TUC regarding the new minimum wage, which was met with mixed reactions from other users.
The Head of Information at NLC, Mr. Benson Upah, stated that he was not aware of any such agreement, while the Deputy President of TUC, Dr. Tommy Okon, labeled the claim as sensational and false.
Dr. Okon emphasized that there had been no negotiations with the government on the minimum wage and urged the public not to be misled by misinformation spread on social media platforms.
