Together, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) have refuted a rumoured strike notice that has been making the rounds. They claim that neither group has sent out a notice to begin a strike on Monday, December 18.

There was supposed to be a statewide strike beginning on Monday, December 18, according to a widely circulated notification reportedly signed by Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, the General Secretary of the NLC, and Comrade Nuhu Toro, the Secretary General of the TUC.

The NLC and TUC, on the other hand, have flatly denied this notice’s veracity and criticised it as fraudulent.

Both labour unions’ Head of Information and Public Affairs, Benson Upah, verified that the message was completely fraudulent and advised the public not to believe it.

Upah stated, “We want to be crystal clear that neither the TUC nor the NLC have approved or given any orders for a strike action scheduled to start on Monday, December 18.

“The public should disregard this notice, which is entirely false and is circulating widely.”

“We want to reassure Nigerians that this notice did not emanate from us, and we also have no intention of initiating any strike action this period,” Benson Upah emphasised. Nigerians who are worried are urged to disregard this notice. It’s not real.

The unions assured Nigerians that there are no intentions for a strike action within the specified period, urging them not to be persuaded by the phoney notification.
