The Nigerian Immigration Service has suspended an officer over accusations of drug trafficking. The decision follows a thorough investigation into the officer’s alleged criminal activities.
Michael Akomolafe, an officer charged with drug trafficking and arraigned in the Federal High Court of Lagos has been suspended by The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
The suspension of an official named Akomolafe, who worked at Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, was announced by NIS Public Relations Officer Kenneth Udo on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to a recent publication linking him with drug trafficking, Mr. Akomolafe is believed to be involved in the incident as stated by Kenneth Udo.

According to Udo, the service is backing up legal proceedings aimed at ascertaining Akomolafe’s guilt.
“Internal procedures have been implemented against the officer implicated in drug-related activities and he has also received a suspension,” remarked Udo.
Before making any additional statements, the NIS is anticipating a verdict from the court. Udo stressed that the organization is dedicated to providing exceptional service while maintaining discipline and having no tolerance for criminal behavior.
He confirmed that any officer going against these principles would face consequences.
