Edo State is capable of producing 70% of the goods imported into Nigeria, according to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
During his address at the current Alaghodaro-Edo State Summit for 2023, Obaseki revealed this.
He asserts that the state may serve as Nigeria’s centre of production with the right level of private-public sector collaboration.

He continued by saying that foreign exchange would no longer be an issue if all of the Federation’s states could address production issues.
According to him, Edo State produces 70% of Nigeria’s imports from outside the nation.
In Q2 2023, Nigeria’s total trade was N12,741.96 billion, its total exports were N7,015.71 billion, and its total imports were N5,726.25 billion, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics.
