According to the Presidency, this historic deal requires both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines to immediately restart their flight schedules into and out of Nigeria.
After nearly a year, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has removed the visa requirement for tourists from Nigeria.
According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, this comes after a historic agreement on Monday between President Bola Tinubu and President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He said that under the terms of this historic deal, flights into and out of Nigeria will immediately restart on Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways.
The statement further stated that the restoration of flight operations does not necessitate any immediate payment by the Nigerian government, as agreed upon by the two presidents of state.

“An agreed framework has been established, involving several billions of new investments by the investment arms of the Government of the United Arab Emirates into the Nigerian economy across many sectors, including defence, agriculture, and others, in recognition of President Tinubu’s economic development diplomacy drive and proposals today presented by President Tinubu to his counterpart.
President Tinubu is also happy to have successfully negotiated a new joint foreign exchange liquidity programme between the two governments, the specifics of which will be published in the upcoming weeks.
Tinubu praised Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, for his unwavering friendship and his resolve to work with him to fully normalise and raise the bar for relations between the two significant nations.
Nigerian nationals were among the 20 African nations whose citizens the UAE had barred from entering Dubai in October of last year.
