Nigerians urged to report incidents of police officers forcefully collecting phones, says FPRO
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has urged Nigerians to report any police officer who takes or searches their phone without consent.
Adejobi disclosed this on Tuesday on his X page.
“Report any policeman who collects and searches your phones or electronic equipment with force,” he said. It’s unprofessional and improper.
“They are only allowed to examine your phone if it is being used as an evidence in an inquiry and is not being used while driving.
This means that any police officer who scans a person’s phone while driving is acting abnormally, disobeying an IGP order, and going against SOP. He ought to receive punishment.
