Nigerians Question Kogi Governor Ododo’s Attendance at PDP Governors’ Event
Nigerians are raising concerns over Kogi Governor Ododo’s presence at a PDP governors’ event, questioning his alignment and the implications for his political stance.
According to reports, Alhaji Usman Ododo – the Governor of Kogi State – participated in the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum Gala Night that was hosted by Agbu Kefas, who is Taraba State’s governor. The event took place on Friday after a meeting held in Jalingo; which also happens to be the state capital.
On Saturday, via his X handle @GovernorAUF, Ahmadu Fintiri, the Governor of Adamawa State stated that the purpose of the gala night was to display “Taraba State’s abundant cultural heritage.”
The message was accompanied by photographs, one of which showed Ododo (a member of the All Progressives Congress) standing with governors from PDP. It stated that “Following our @OfficialPDPNig Governors Forum meeting yesterday, we were treated to a lively Gala Night organized by @GovAgbuKefas showcasing Taraba’s magnificent cultural heritage. The colourful exhibitions and captivating performances made it an unforgettable night. We appreciate Taraba for its warm welcome.”
Nigerians are questioning why Ododo, an APC governor who recently won a Supreme Court case, would attend a PDP event. His attendance at the gala night has aroused curiosity amongst citizens.
In response to the post, @PrinceOfIgala, an X user stated, “Could that be Ododo who received a Supreme Court verdict yesterday? It would please me if it is indeed him in the photo. @officialABAT what’s up?”
@Ayotund1 commented, “Looks like Ododo is in the PDP,” @oil_shaeikh questioned if it was Governor Ododo, While @hon_Asadiq asked what brought him there. Meanwhile, @mashaallahujada humorously identified Kogi State’s governor as Usman Ododo.
@Emmanue99884047 asked, “Who brought Ododo here?” @LOD_hyper7 questioned the Kogi governor’s attendance at the gala night by saying, “Isn’t this Ododo?” Similarly, @Jaycn330 wondered if the person in question was Usman Ododo from Kogi State.
On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected Muritala Ajaka’s appeal as a Social Democratic Party candidate challenging Ododo’s win in the Kogi State gubernatorial election.
After the November 11, 2023 election that declared Ododo of APC as the winner, Ajaka contested and disputed the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Ajaka took his case to the Court of Appeal in Abuja following the dismissal of his petition at Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal; however, his appeal was also rejected there.
On Friday, a unanimous decision from the apex court’s panel of five members upheld Ododo’s victory and denied Ajaka’s request to nullify the election.
